ABOUT Janu

Janū Sung, an East Coast Native, is an organizer, educator, artistic director and performer based in Seattle. He began his movement journey from a young age studying eastern disciplines such as varying martial art forms, yoga and meditation. He is a representative of the Seattle House Dance community, teaches regularly at the Beacon Studio and has worked with the Seattle Art Museum, Circle of Fire Crew, Sekoū Herū, Dani Tirrell, Amy O'neal, The Henry Art Gallery, Massive Monkees Crew and more.

When Dancing

When dancing, Janū follows the mantra of "let the music move you". He finds dance to be full of everything that one needs within a moment and more. He believes that "you can live multiple lifetimes within a single night at the club". Dance is a form of self-actualization, healing, joy and resistance.

When Not Dancing

When not dancing, you can find Janū cleaning his house, journaling on the grass, chasing the sun and swimming in the water. He loves cats and dogs and being with his tribe and will light up if you give him dairy free sweets.
