ABOUT Mel

Mel was born and raised in the hills of northern California in Mendocino County. They grew up in an artistic home and were shown from a young age the power of dance and creativity. Mel received a BFA in Musical Theatre at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA. They are a multifaceted freelancer dancing, choreographing, curating, framing, doing set/art designs, teaching, working as a handyperson, and hosting/collaborating on art events. Through their work and life as a queer person they find meaning in the multitudes of humanity.

When Dancing

When dancing, Mel is connecting to the deepest parts of themself and those witnessing. They believe dancing is a state of euphoria and liberation that is embedded into our DNA. Mel feels the most alive when they are sweating, feeling their heart rate racing and their blood pumping.

When Not Dancing

When not dancing, Mel nurtures relationships with friends, family and other artists. They also love pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. Feeling the sun against their face and daydreaming of brighter days for all people.
